Ajdovščina is the largest settlement and economic and cultural center of Vipava valley. Here was a Roman settlement 'Ad Fluvium Frigidum' (which means 'nearby the cold river') in the 3^rd century. Along the Hubelj brook was was a border between two historical regions of Slovenia.
