Podolševa is situated below the Olševa Mountain and is one of the highest lying settlements in Slovenia, extending from an altitude of 1,020 m up to 1,327 m. The Church of the Holy Spirit forms the cultural and historical centre of the village. The previous church was established here before 1613, while the present sanctuary was consecrated in 1891. Inside is preserved a rare stone relief of the Holy Trinity dating back to 1425.
Nearby the church opens the 317-metre deep abyss known as »Golar's Hell« (Golarjev pekel). The church also serves as a prime trailhead for hikes leading to the prehistoric Potočka zijalka cave and towards the panoramic ridge of Olševa Mountain (approx. 1.5 hours of hike).
