Construction and maintenance of railway lines

The characteristic of railway vehicles is that they can run only on a specially constructed way, i.e. on railway tracks. Along with the fast development of the railways as a whole, the tracks have been constantly improving, too. New track systems with characteristic fastening elements and wooden sleepers, sometimes also steel or even concrete sleepers, have been developed.

For track maintenance, certain services used vehicles which were allowed to run along the lines only under certain conditions. These were various kinds of carriages, called also "track cars", intended for track inspection or transportation of materials. Various tools, manufactured only for this purpose, have been used for construction and maintenance of railway lines.
