Otok (Maria Wörth) is situated on the south bank of the Vrbsko jezero (Wörther See). The water level of the lake was higher in the 18th century and the present peninsula was an island in that time (Otok = 'island'). The settlement was documented in 875.
The historical sights of the settlement are the late Gothic parish church, the Roman ossuary directly next to the parish church, and the winter church.
From Otok, a path leads to the Konj rising (850 m) or Pyramidenkogel, where a 54 m high observation tower offers a beautiful panoramic vista to the lake and the countryside.
