Cerkev sv.Maksimilijana

Church of the St. Maximilian lies opposite the town bus station. It was built in the 15 th century and it is consecrated to a legendary bishop of Celje who was beheaded by Old Romans in the year 283.

Interesting detail:
*Primoz Trubar served here as a curate and beneficiate.

Rimljani so leta 283 v celjskem municipiju obglavili krščanskega škofa Maksimilijana. Njemu je posvečena cerkev, ki danes stoji nasproti celjske avtobusne postaje.
Zgrajena je bila konec 15. stoletja, vendar je bila pozneje še večkrat prezidana.

Kot zanimivost:
Primož Trubar je bil v tej cerkvi nekaj časa beneficiat in kaplan.

Ob cerkvi sv. Maksimilijana stoji spomenik s poprsjem Primoža Trubarja. Avtor: Kalin.

*Primoz Trubar (1508-1586) is the first one who has translated the bible into the language.
Half lenght statue of Primoz Trubar on pedestal is work of the sculptor Kalin. It stands nearby the church.
