Schönnbrun palace - at the end of the 17th century, Lepold I. commissioned Fischer von Erlach
to build a stately Baroque hunting lodge. In the middle of the 18th century
the "hunting lodge" was adapted and extended by Maria Theresa. The result
was the magnificent imperial residence of Schönnbrun. Schönnbrun park: The history of the park begun in the 14th century.
Emperor Maximilian II purchased the forest hunting ground in 1569. From
that time the Habsburgs care for the development of Schönnbrun. Palace and Gardens of Schönbrunn have
been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1996. |
