In order to save using a luggage van on the branch lines, the constructors Elbel and Gölsdorf-Senior invented the "Luggage locomotive". The loco seemed to carry a part of a wooden freight car on her back.
These luggage compartments didn't prove practical because of coal dust and cinders, so they were soon removed. Despite their somewhat clumsy look, these little engines were very swift and agile. The 162-001 significantly shortened the travelling time between Ljubljana and Kamnik, proving its worth on the local tracks.
