Selling honey-bread baker's and chandler's
products
In addition to having a workshop, honey-bread bakers and chandlers
were also the proprietors of shops where they sold their products. However,
only a relatevily small share of the produce was sold there; the major
share of profits was made by selling on market stalls at fairs, religious
feasts and church blessings. The stalls of the honey-bread bakers were
markedly and visibly different from others stalls with large linen roofs
with four wings-celtna.
The role of candles and honey-bread in everyday
life
Until the beginning of the 20th century wax candles were used for lighting
only by the most affluent sector of the population. Undoubtedly, however,
the greatest consumer of wax candles was the Church, where candles were
used both in services and for lighting in the large church chandeliers.

The Catholic Church has also given a symbolic value to wax: wax was
a symbol of Corpus Christi, while candles during the service symbolised
God,s presence.
Candles, in particular wax candles, accompanied man through all important
milestones in life: in distress and solemn occasions, from the cradle to
the grave. |
