Planica valley is one of the entries to Triglav National Park. It is a famous ski-jumps place with the elegant Bloudek ski jump. Here the first jumps over 100 metres and over 200 metres were made. The new skiing discipline - ski flying started here, under the Ponce mountains.
V vhodnem delu alpske doline Planice (Tamar), pod grebenom Ponc, ležijo znamenite smučarske skakalnice. Idejni oče skakalnic je bil Stanko Bloudek (1890-1959). Prva skoka preko 100 in 200 m sta se zgodila ravno v Planici, s čimer se je začela nova smučarska disciplina: smučarski poleti.
