| Saltpans of Sečovlje used to be the largest saltpans in this area.
Saltpans are now abandoned and are a nature preserve for waterfowl. Light
wind and scent of the Mediterranean, fascinate the visitors in every season
of the year. In the 'Museum
of saltpans', precious information is available about the history and
salt production in this area. The coastline of the Bay of Piran with it's
tourist sites is an important tourist and congress centre of Slovenia.
Tourist development of this area was begun from the saltpans...in 19th
century, the wholesomeness of the mud from saltpans was discovered and
