The hotel resort Haludovo at Malinska village on Krk island in Croatia is the important »hotel building «architecture landmark from the 70-ies of 20th century. The hotel was designed by the croatian architect Boris Magaš and the construction works started in 1968. The investment into the hotel resort with the capacity of 1700 guests was from the Croatian company Brodokomerc which received the loan at Yugoslav banks. The cost of the project was with nowadays calculation of 190 million Euros. The hotel was open in summer 1971. The Penthouse Adriatic club was opened by the »king of the porn industry« Bob Guccione in 1972. The hotel was with the highest standards to meet all needs of the jet set. After the year of the »debauchery« with the Penthouse style, when the chambermaids dressed in provocative French style served the needs of guests, when the champagne streams were poured and the demands for lobster were in hundreds of kilograms, already in 1973 the Penthouse Adriatic club was with bankruptcy. The American businessman vanished and left the debts.
The company Brodokomerc was because of the hotel illiquidity with the bankruptcy procedure but was saved with the financial injection of Slovenian companies (Stol Kamnik, Lesnina, … e.g..).
After the Penthouse episode the hotel operated relatively successfully until the 90-ies when the war in Croatia started. In 2002 the major share of the hotel was bought by the Armenian-Russian businessman Ara Abramian. The precious hotel equipment was sold for a minimal price. The hotel became a huge self-service store where the tickets with prices were stuck everywhere e.g. »a square meter of paneling: 20 Kn (Croatian currency). What left, was plundered or broken by vandals.
The present »ruins« of the hotel, just above the beaches of Makarska are slowly decaying and retreating to nature processes.
