Split is the largest town of Dalmatia. It is situated on the penincula of the west bay of Kastel and and the Channel of Split. Old nucleus of the town and remains of the Diocletian palace in Split (Spalatum). The complex of the palace was inscripted into the UNESCO World heritage list in 1979. The Diocletian's Palace was built between the late 3rd and the early 4th centuries A.D. and is the most preserved Emperior palace from the Ancient Rome.
